Jamie is a quiet and unassuming man in person but that calm demeanour belies a competitive drive that has seen him take on all comers and win all sorts of padddling competitions all over the world.

His partnership with Infront Surfcraft has been of great benefit to both parties with Jamie's input to the Infront design team giving them a critical edge in their ocean paddleboard surfcraft design.

Infront is on the cutting edge of design and their support of Jamie's competitive career has helped him with his consistency knowing that his next board will be at least as good as his last one.

Excerpt follows from the Mr Molokai article on paddleboard.com by Brad Melekian on 06/26/07

"The 30-year-old lifeguard from Burleigh Heads, Australia, will put a toe in the water on July 29 2007 as the five-time defending champion of the Molokai race, and while most of his competitors are allies (Mitchell is almost universally admired among his peers) they will all be looking to dethrone him by emulating him. Most will be adopting Mitchell's revolutionary paddling technique to try to keep up with the man who is still the odds-on favorite for a sixth straight title. "What separates Jamie from everybody else," says race director Mike Takahashi, "Is that he has an extraordinary mental toughness, and he's riding waves through the entire event."
